CONTROL OF BEAN LEAF BEETLE ON SOYBEANS, 2001A

CONTROL OF BEAN LEAF BEETLE ON SOYBEANS, 2001A (F92) SOYBEAN: Glycine max (L.) Merrill, 'Garst 269RR' Jerry Echtenkamp and Tom Hunt Haskell Agricultural Laboratory 57905 866 Road Concord, NE 68728 Phone: (402) 584-2261 Bean leaf beetle (BLB): Cerotoma trifurcata (Fostera) Foliar treatments of registered and unregistered insecticides for BLB control were applied on 27 May to plots of soybean 'Garst 269RR'. Experimental design was a RCB with four replications. All liquid insecticides were applied with a backpack sprayer calibrated to deliver 20 gpa at 30 psi. Two d prior to application, beetle counts were taken on 1 m of soybean row at two random sites in each plot. Counts of beetles were taken 2, 5, 11, and 15 DAT. Results were analyzed using analysis of variance procedures. Treatment means were separated using LSD procedures. Results were variable on d 2, 11, and 15. Beetle counts were low for all treatments on d 2 because of very cool air temperatures. On d 5, all treatments except for the fipronil treatment resulted in significantly fewer beetles per 2 m of row than the untreated check. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Arthropod Management Tests Oxford University Press
