This doctoral thesis of the University of Neuchatel can be compared in size and importance to the recent series of French disserta­ tions. Dr. Schneider's purpose is not to propose some supranational no­ tion of "domicile," but to study domicile as a connecting factor in the Private International Law of Persons and Families (Statut personnel). He makes a comparative study of the notion of "domicile" in French, German and Swiss Private International Law, and in recent interna­ tional conventions, and then draws some conclusions de lege ferenda.
