Patient expectations need to be managed prior to all aesthetic procedures in order to improve outcomes and reduce the risk of liability. Some of the challenges aesthetic nurses face today in managing patients' expectations include pressures from mass media, and the boom of selfies, airbrushing and celebrity culture. Ensuring patients have a clear and realistic understanding of what a treatment can achieve at the outset improves the likelihood of an optimal outcome and increases patient satisfaction.
