Managing acne: the importance of considering antimicrobial resistance

Managing acne: the importance of considering antimicrobial resistance Severe acne can leave young people scarred mentally and physically. Yet recent evidence suggests that referral to secondary care is often delayed. Moreover, antibiotics are often used inappropriately, which could drive resistance in Propionibacterium acnes, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and other bacteria. Aesthetic nurses can help dispel many myths and misconceptions that surround acne, offer self-help suggestions, facilitate appropriate management and aid antibiotic stewardship. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Journal of Aesthetic Nursing Mark Allen Group

Abstract

Severe acne can leave young people scarred mentally and physically.
