Abstract

Knowledge and experience brings with it a wide repertoire of ‘ways of doing’, which can create confusion in aesthetic nurses' daily working environment. However, it is these very situations where nurses are systematically exposed through reflection that enable reflection, practice-generated theory and understanding. Nevertheless, reflection and supervision for aesthetic nurses poses various problems in terms of access and application; It can feel uncomfortable and often has a reputation of being seen as critical, intrusive and time-consuming. In the author's opinion, as supervision is about growth and learning, it needs to be simple and flexible. It is about questioning and understanding practice and evaluating the intuitive aspects of aesthetic nursing. In this article, the author proposes a ‘mix’ of models which allow a simple understanding of how supervision may apply to aesthetic practice.
