Hot and cold: a comparison of modalities for non-invasive body contouring

Hot and cold: a comparison of modalities for non-invasive body contouring Non-surgical body contouring technologies have progressed rapidly following the introduction of Thermage in 2002. Since then, exciting developments in multiple modalities have followed, including radiofrequency, low-level laser therapy, cryolipolysis, and thermal and non-thermal ultrasound. Each of these treatment options are associated with distinct efficacy and side effect profiles. In this article, the authors provide a critical review of several body contouring technologies. Throughout the paper, the authors compare the mechanisms of action, efficacy and potential adverse effects of the five main modalities. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Journal of Aesthetic Nursing Mark Allen Group

Abstract

Non-surgical body contouring technologies have progressed rapidly following the introduction of Thermage in 2002.
