W itm er) (Eine ausführliche Version dieser Arbeit wird an anderer Stelle erscheinen) Zusammenfassung Die Koganeischen Klumpenzellen, die sich als grosse, runde, dunkel pigmentierte Zellen typischerweise im pupillennahen Irisstrom a oberhalb des Sphinkters sowie im Gebiet der Iriswurzel finden, gelten als neuroepitheliale Elemente, indem ange nommen wird, dass sie im Verlaufe der Entwicklung vom Pigm entepithel der Iris ins Strom a abtropfen. Ih re Funktion ist nicht bekannt. Um H erkunft und Funktion zu klären, wurden Klumpenzellen des Menschen, des Rhesusaffen, des Schimpansen und des Hundes einer licht- und elektronenmikroskopischen Untersuchung unter worfen. Beim Menschen wurden sie ausserdem m it der Spaltlam pe studiert. Die zyto- logische Struktur m it charakteristischer Anordnung der M elanosom en ist bei K lum penzellen und M akrophagen dieselbe. In einem Fall wurde Phagozytose bei einer Klumpenzelle beobachtet. M akrophagen in lichtkoagulierten Rhesusaffen-Irides zeig ten eine den Klumpenzellen vergleichbare Struktur.
