Mediaturgy: a conversation with Marianne Weems

Mediaturgy: a conversation with Marianne Weems Bonnie Marranca, publisher and editor of PAJ Publications, interviews Marianne Weems, founding artistic director of The Builders Association, a 'cross-media performance company' created in 1994. The media- and technology-rich work of The Builders Association explores through performance, the interactions and influence of modern telecommunications and media technology on social interaction, systematised power and our corporeal bodies. It also considers shifts in the perception of distance, the boundaries of city space and the interplay between media and 'liveness', especially important in performance. Mixed into the interview's dialogue are the practical issues of collaboration, technical production, funding and other resources needed to develop theatrical pieces with Builders' extensive and original use of technology. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png International Journal of Arts and Technology Inderscience Publishers

Abstract

Bonnie Marranca, publisher and editor of PAJ Publications, interviews Marianne Weems, founding artistic director of The Builders Association, a 'cross-media performance company' created in 1994.
