Guest editorial: Preface Guest editorial In the present special issue of the International Journal for Computation and Mathematics in Electrical and Electronic Engineering – COMPEL are published selected papers, related to topic electromagnetic fields in mechatronics, electrical and electronic engineering. Presented papers provide a unique opportunity at an international level for scientists, researchers and engineers from both academy and industrial world to discuss the state-of- the-art and new developments in computational electromagnetics and applications in many scientific areas. The special issue topics have been continuously upgraded and cover a wide spectrum of electromagnetic field problems, advanced numerical techniques in modeling and simulation, with several applications to electromagnetic phenomena, optimization problems of electrical machines, transformers and specific electromagnetic devices, coupled problems, nondestructive testing and measurements and artificial intelligence. Special emphasis has been put on problems related to innovative methods and techniques in field modeling. This COMPEL issue contains a collection of papers selected by the Guest Editors as a result of a two-stage qualification procedure. The authors submitted their papers. The final decision and acceptance for publishing have been made based on the blind reviews done by two independent referees, and we are grateful to the reviewers for their valuable work and for taking care of the important reviewing process of papers. As Editors of this special issue, we would like to express our thanks to COMPEL journal for giving us the opportunity to share scientific achievements. We do hope that readers of this COMPEL issue will find this paper interesting and motivating for searching electromagnetism as one of the strategic scientific topics for their future activity.
