The area I reside in, on Dharug land, is a low socio-economic and overpoliced neighbourhood with one of New South Wale’s biggest Indigenous populations. I felt a comfort in my neighbour- hood, I never felt that my personhood was challenged locally. In 2018 I drove past the pictured graffitied billboard while I was working in refugee youth transition (Fig.1). I felt uneasy and my comfort with my local area began shifting. It was difficult to work that day, greeting the face of my young refugee clients, and reassure them of their place in Australia when my own felt challenged.
