Abstract

The fragmented international legal instruments on plant breeders' rights include mechanisms that retrogressively limit the vital farmers' privilege to freely save, replant and exchange seeds. Pragmatic choices are essential in Kenya's accession to relevant treaties in order to domestically safeguard the farmers' privilege and, therefore, enhance food security.
