If you are expecting a more detailed stylistic analysis in which K-pop is constantly interp reted as a representation of individual musicians, rather than society, it might be less than satisfactory. Nevertheless, the real value of this book is in the fundamental questions the author poses to better understand the nature of this uniquely shaped historical product named K-pop. These are the questions that South Korean popular music scholarship has too often overlooked without thoughtful consideration: What is K-pop? How has South Korean popular music come this far?
