Notes on Contributors Glenn Holland holds the Bishop James Mills Thoburn Chair of Religious Studies at Allegheny College. His books include The Tradition That You Received from Us: 2 Thessalonians in the Pauline Tradition and Divine Irony, and he is coeditor of a collection of essays about the Epicurean philosopher Philodemus. COMMON KNOWLEDGE Hilary Putnam is the Cogan University Professor at Harvard University. A fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a corresponding fellow of the British Academy, he has served as president of the American Philosophical Association. Many of his articles have been collected in Realism with a Human Face, Words and Life, and three volumes of Philosophical Papers. He is also the author of several books, including, most recently, Renewing Philosophy and Pragmatism. Paul A. Roth, professor of philosophy at the University of Missouri, St. Louis, is the author of Meaning and Method in the Social Sciences: A Case for Methodological Pluralism. Don Seeman is lecturer in anthropology and an Alon Fellow at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is the author of several articles on the sociopolitical contexts of infectious disease and on the cultural phenomenology of suffering and violence.
