The reaction of imidazo[1,5-a]pyridines with ninhydrin revisited AbstractThe synthesis of 2,2′-(Imidazo[1,5-a]pyridine-1,3-diyl)bis(2-hydroxy-1H-indene-1,3(2H)-dione) (11) is achieved by reaction of imidazo[1,5-a]pyridine (7) with two equivalents of ninhydrin (1) at room temperature. The structure of this new 1,3-bis-adduct 11 is evidenced from HRMS and NMR spectral data and confirmed by single-crystal X-ray crystallography.
