1PräliminarienLautliche Prozesse, welche die Segmente eines Wortes erfassen, können in additive und reduktive untergliedert werden. Je nach Stellung im Wort ergeben sich in der Folge drei additive Prozesse, nämlich Prothese am Wortanfang, Epenthese in der Wortmitte und Epithese im Wortauslaut. Bei den reduktiven Prozessen sind das: Aphärese, Synkope und Apokope (vgl. Sampson 2010: 1). Im Folgenden soll es um die beiden Prozesse Aphärese und Prothese gehen, deren enge Verbindung mit der Apokope gezeigt wird.Es werden folgende Abkürzungen gebraucht: ae. = altenglisch, afrz. = altfranzösisch, ahd. = althochdeutsch, av. = avestisch, bad. = badisch, bair. = bairisch, brem. = bremerisch, elsäss. = elsässisch, f. = Femininum, gr. = griechisch, holst. = holsteinisch, kärnt. = kärntisch, kroat. = kroatisch, kurhess. = kurhessisch, lat. = lateinisch, lothr. = lothringisch, m. = Maskulinum, me. = mittelenglisch, meckl. = mecklenburgisch, mittelelb. = mittelelbisch, mhd. = mittelhochdeutsch, mlat. = mittellateinisch, mndl. = mittelniederländisch, n. = Neutrum, ndd. = niederdeutsch, ne. = neuenglisch, nndl. = neuniederländisch, ohess. = oberhessisch, osächs. = obersächsisch, pfälz. = pfälzisch, pl. = Plural, poln. = polnisch, rhein. = rheinisch, russ. = russisch, sard. = sardinisch, schwäb. = schwäbisch, schweiz. = schweizerisch, serb. = serbisch, span. = spanisch, steir. = steirisch, südhess.
