Obituarie to Friedrich A. von Hayek

Obituarie to Friedrich A. von Hayek Ayau. Obituaries to Friedrich A. von Hayek Manuel Ayau° My fondest recollection of Hayek is his generosity, his patience and willingness to spend his time and put his vast knowledge at the service and for the benefit not only of his intellectual peers and colleagues, but to many, like myself, dabblers in economics and social sciences. Many of us that are gathered here, were conscious of our good fortune to have the opportunities to be with him, many times over the years, thanks to the e x i s t e n c e of this society which he founded precisely to create such opportunities. He was always most willing to give a private lecture on the question at hand and would not be easily distracted by surrounding circumstances. On one of his visits to Guatemala with Mrs. Hayek we went on an excursion to climb a volcano. Walking on a barren steep sandy slope at ten thousand feeet above sea level, can be exhausting. Mrs Hayek reached the top far ahead of us, explaining that she climbed steadily at the rate of so many meters per minute and noted that she could climb much faster than Professor http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Journal des Économistes et des Études Humaines de Gruyter
