Note from the editor

Note from the editor Administration, vol. 63, no. 1 (2015), pp. 12 doi: 10.1515/admin-2015-0001 Joanna O'Riordan Institute of Public Administration This edition, the first in volume 63 of Administration, marks a new juncture for the Journal. It is the first to be hosted by the publishing company De Gruyter Open. While the editing of the Journal and the management of its production will remain the responsibility of the Institute of Public Administration, the new relationship with De Gruyter Open will help to raise the profile of Administration. From our readers' perspective, there will also be the advantage that all articles will be available on a free-to-access basis. This is very much consistent with the long-standing objectives of the Journal, which include the promotion and dissemination of research on public management within Ireland. This edition includes a number of papers on the theme of `Responsibility and Accountability in the Irish Public Service'. In November 2014 the IPA hosted a conference to mark thirty years of the Office of the Ombudsman in Ireland. The paper by Peter Tyndall, Ombudsman and Information Commissioner, reflects on developments in the office over this period, the expansion of its jurisdiction and future initiatives.
