This paper identifies regional production structures within the automotive industry as one important, non-interacting measure to lower the ecological impact of freight transport. After showing important economic impacts beyond the already known transport costs, specific potentials for regionalization within the supply chain are evaluated. Abstract

Economic and ecologic impact of regionalized production structures within the automotive supply chain.
