Liggio: Introduction By Leonard P. Liggio The annual meeting of the Southern Economic Association was held in Baltimore, Maryland, November 10, 1998. The Southern Economic Association has a strong membership among Public Choice and Austrian economists, with many having served as president of the association. This meeting was attended by, among others, Professor Jacques Garello and Dr. Gerald P. O'Driscoll. This meeting included a session on Economics and Religion, which included the paper included here by Leonard P. Liggio. The session focused attention on the subject and led to the current issue of the Journal des Economistes et des Etudes Humaines. "American Classical Liberalism and Religion" presents the intersections of religion and economic science during the period since the second world war.
