Yankson, Ghana The Example of the Region of Ghana Introduction: Spatial inequality in development is a feature of all nations particulary to the developing or the underdeveloped countries. In many countries this feature has become a serious problem in the de velopment process, for it tends to deepen or perpetuate over the years despite efforts at national economic development. Ghana is not an exception to this aspect of a de velopment process. The problem that planners face is how best to reduce the ,,intensity" of the problem so as to avoid or to reduce tendencies for socio-political upheavals which tend to characterize the history of most third world nations today. How has the disparity probiem been perceived and what attempts have been made or are being made to solve this problem are issues which are examined using the Central region as a case study. Though there are many forms of inequalities (SLATER, 1975), this paper focuses on inter-locality disparities within the administrative region.
