Rhizomata 2015; 3(1): 1 DOI 10.1515/rhiz-2015-0001 As on a previous occasion (Vol.1 no.2, 2013), this issue of Rhizomata is devoted to publication of papers developed from presentations made at the Symposium Praesocraticum in this case the fifth in the sequence. It was held in the Faculty of Classics, Cambridge, in autumn 2012, with two days of academic sessions on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th September. Present were Mantas Adomenas, Gábor Betegh, Jenny Bryan, Patricia Curd, Roman Dilcher, Marianne Garin, Laura Gianvittorio, Daniel Graham, Ben Harriman, Myrto Hatzimichali, Enrique Hülsz, Leopoldo Iribarren, Gérard Journée, Stavros Kouloumentas, André Laks, Jaap Mansfeld, Stephen Menn, Glenn Most, Serge Mouravieff, Valeria Piano, Lucia Prauscello, Oliver Primavesi, Sofia Ranzato, Catherine Rowett, Carolina Sánchez, Maria Michela Sassi, Lucia Saudelli, Sandra Sepanovi, Malcolm Schofield, David Sedley, James Warren, Michael Withey. The Faculty of Classics made a generous contribution to the costs of the occasion, and we thank its Faculty Board warmly. The meeting was designed to gather a mix of senior scholars well known in the field and others near the start of their careers (including graduate students), and there were presentations and contributions to discussion from participants of both descriptions. Its subject was Heraclitus, both his own writing and thought (the focus of the first three articles in this issue), and his rich afterlife in subsequent interpretation (addressed in the second two). He is a well-studied philosopher, but we believe that readers will find plenty of absorbing material here to deepen knowledge and prompt fresh perspectives. We are grateful to the Editors and Editorial Board of Rhizomata for agreeing to give these papers a good home. Catherine Rowett Malcolm Schofield
