Amputee football in practice and research

Amputee football in practice and research Introduction: Sport for people with disabilities has interested scientists for a long time. However, there is a scarcity of research on the subject of amputee football football adapted to individuals after amputations. The aim of the study was to describe this sport and to review research carried out in this field so far. email: tasiemski@awf.poznan.pl Badania finansowane w ramach projektu NCN nr 2012/07/D/NZ7/03265 When looking for investigations on amputee football, the available computer databases (Academic Search Complete, SPORTdiscus, MEDLINE, Health Source, MasterFILE Premier) were searched comprehensively. The following key words were used to identify proper articles: amputee football, football + amputations, crutch football. Also, the following article inclusion criteria were applied: (A) original scientific paper, (B) available full text of paper, (C) paper published in a peer-reviewed journal, (D) paper published in the English language. Eleven articles that met the criteria were selected for the analysis. Description of amputee football: The description of amputee football included the history of the sport in the world and in Poland, rules of the game and players' classification. Amputee football in research: The articles selected for the review were divided into three categories: 1) psychological and social aspects, 2) anthropomotorics and nutrition, 3) endurance, physical capacity and speed abilities. . Summary: The majority of studies carried out so far have focused on general characteristics of amputee football players and the effects of this sport on the functioning of individuals after amputations. Future studies ought to involve injury-related aspects as well as training effectiveness on the basis of physiological parameters. Key words: limb amputations, crutch football, sport for people with disabilities Wstp Introduction Pilka nona (ang. football) jest jednym z najpopularniejszych i najlepiej rozpropagowanych sportów druynowych w Polsce [1]. W poszukiwaniu prac badawczych na temat ampfutbolu dokonano systematycznego przegldu publikacji dostpnych w komputerowych bazach czasopism (Academic Search Complete, SPORTdiscus, Football is one of the most popular and widespread team sports in Poland [1]. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that people with disabilities also want to practise this sport. So far, there have occurred a lot of variations of football for people with disabilities, two of which have already been introduced into the programme of the Paralympic Games, i.e. football 7-a-side for players with cerebral palsy and other neurological disorders (strokes, Parkinson's disease), and football 5-a-side for players who are blind and visually impaired [2]. Crutch football (amputee football) is another rapidly developing variation of football. This sport is also gaining popularity in Poland. The Polish Amputee Football League [3] includes five clubs. However, there are still very few national and foreign publications on the specificity of amputee football and there is a scarcity of research on this sport. Therefore, the aim of this study was to describe amputee football (history in Poland and abroad, specificity of rules, players' classification) and to review the research carried out in this field so far. When looking for investigations on amputee football, the available computer databases (Academic Search Complete, SPORTdiscus, MEDLINE, Health Source, MasterFILE Premier) were searched comprehensively. The following key words were used to identify proper articles regarding amputee football: amputee football, football + amputations, crutch football. Also, the following article inclusion criteria were applied: (A) original scientific paper, MEDLINE, Health Source, MasterFILE Premier). Zastosowano nastpujce kryteria wlczania publikacji: (A) oryginalny artykul naukowy; (B) dostpny pelny tekst artykulu; (C) opublikowany w recenzowanym czasopimie; (D) w jzyku angielskim. Sporód znalezionych artykulów wyselekcjonowano 11 prac odpowiadajcych przyjtym kryteriom. Charakterystka ampfutbolu Rozwój ampfutbolu na wiecie. Pocztki ampfutbolu sigaj lat 80 ubieglego wieku [4]. Barry rozpowszechnial ampfutbol glównie w Salwadorze i Europie Wschodniej. Rok póniej odbyly si pierwsze oficjalne Mistrzostwa wiata w Ampfutbolu w Anglii. Równie w 1998 roku w Moskwie powstala International Amputee Football Federation (IAFF) [4]. Od 2005 roku powstawaly kolejne organizacje, a IAFF zostal przeksztalcony w WAFF (World Amputee Football Federation) oraz AFFA (Amputee (B) available full text of paper, (C) paper published in a peer-reviewed journal, (D) paper published in the English language. Eleven articles that met the criteria were selected for analysis. Description of amputee football Evolution of amputee football in the world. Amputee football dates back to the 1980s [4]. The game was invented by Don Bennett, who first tried to introduce football among people with amputation in Seattle (USA). At the beginning, amputee football was used as a form of training that helped skiers with disabilities from the USA National Team to maintain proper endurance and fitness levels during the summer [4]. Amputee football, as a variation of one of the best-known sports in the world, quickly became popular also owing to the fact that there are no age limits. Given that after every war there are a lot of veterans, popularising amputee football in countries involved in military conflicts was easier than in neutral countries. The first international organisation (Amputee Soccer International) was set up by Bill Barry, an amputee football coach and coordinator [4]. Barry propagated amputee football mainly in El Salvador and Eastern Europe. The first international amputee football tournament was held in 1984 and national teams of El Salvador, Canada and the USA participated in it. Until 1987, the game was played on pitches with standard dimensions with 11 players on each side. In the spring of 1988, Barry arrived in England, where he took part in the weekend event for the English after Amputations. The promotion of amputee football in England led to the establishment of the national team that entered the World Championships in Seattle in the same year. In 1991, the World Championships were held outside North America for the first time. The tournament was organised in Uzbekistan. It was not until 1997 that amputee football rules changed fundamentally. It was then that football 7-a-side was introduced (as it is still played today). A year later the first official Amputee Football World Cup tournament took place in England. Also, in 1998 the International Amputee Football Federation (IAFF) was founded in Moscow [4]. Since 2005 other federations have been established. Moreover, IAFF was transformed into WAFF (World Amputee Football Federation) and AFFA (Amputee Football Federation of Africa). Currently, WAFF includes 35 national teams [20]. In 2015, the EAFF (European Amputee Football Federation) founding congress took place in Dublin, with Mateusz Widlak from Poland being elected as the president. Over the last two years, EAFF has been able to establish close cooperation both with UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) Football Federation of Africa). Obecnie WAFF zrzesza 35 druyn krajowych [20]. W 2015 roku w Dublinie odbyl si kongres zaloycielski EAFF (European Amputee Footabll Federation), którego prezydentem zostal wybrany Polak, Mateusz Widlak. W Polsce w 2015 roku zakoczyl si pierwszy historyczny sezon Amp Futbol Ekstraklasy, w której braly udzial cztery zespoly [22]. Rozwój ampfutbolu w Polsce. Pierwsze zgrupowanie osób chccych wzi udzial i spróbowa gry w ampfutbol odbylo si w padzierniku 2011 roku w Warszawie. Na pierwszy trening przyjechalo trzynastu zawodników z calej Polski. Organizatorem i pomyslodawc calego przedsiwzicia bylo Stowarzyszenie Pilki Nonej Osób Niepelnosprawnych ,,Amp Futbol". Kolejne zgrupowania odbywaly si raz w miesicu. Zwikszajca si liczba zawodników i zdobycie sponsorów sklonily Zarzd Stowarzyszenia ,,Amp Futbol" do powolania reprezentacji Polski w ampfutbolu w marcu 2012 roku. Na przelomie marca i kwietnia 2012 roku Kadra Narodowa wzila udzial w pierwszym midzynarodowym turnieju odbywajcym si w Manchesterze w Anglii. Turniej zakoczyl si wielkim sukcesem i niespodziank, gdy reprezentacja Polski zajla drugie miejsce ulegajc jedynie faworytowi turnieju Anglii. We wrzeniu 2012 roku Stowarzyszenie podjlo si organizacji pierwszego midzynarodowego turnieju ampfutbolu w Polsce. Na boiskach w Warszawie rywalizowalo pi druyn: Polska, Anglia, Ukraina, Irlandia oraz Polska Kadra B. Zwyciyli Anglicy, a reprezentacja Polski zajla trzecie miejsce. Mistrzostwa wiata w Kaliningradzie (2012) byly debiutem w oficjalnych rozgrywkach re- and FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association). WAFF is the most important amputee football organisation in the world and the World Cup is considered to be the main sporting event for amputee football players due to the fact that this sport is not recognised by the Paralympic Committee as an official Paralympic discipline. WAFF has submitted an application to introduce amputee football to the programme of the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo [20]. So far, a lot of continental amputee football tournaments have been organised, e.g. African Championships, European Championships, Copa America or Amp Futbol Cup held in Poland. There are also several professional, semi-professional and amateur leagues in Europe. Turkey, where two leagues exist, is the best example. For some Turkish athletes amputee football is a way of life (they receive remuneration) and there are transfers of players between clubs [10]. In 2015 in Poland, the first historic season of the Polish Amputee Football League took place, with four participating teams [22]. Evolution of amputee football in Poland. The first camp for people who wanted to try to play amputee football took place in October 2011 in Warsaw. Thirteen players from all over Poland attended the first training. The Football Association for the Disabled `Amp Futbol' was the initiator and the organiser of the whole project. Successive meetings took place once a month. An increasing number of players as well as finding sponsors enabled the Board of the `Amp Futbol' Association to create the Polish National Amputee Football Team in March 2012. At the turn of March and April 2012, the National Team participated in the first international tournament in Manchester, England. The tournament was a huge success and a surprise since the Polish team were defeated by the favourite team of England only and they won the 2nd place. In September 2012, the Polish Association organised the first international amputee football tournament in Warsaw, Poland. Five teams from four countries took part in it: Poland, England, Ukraine, Ireland and the Polish National Team B. The English won the competition, while the Polish National Team finished third. The World Cup in Kaliningrad (2012) was the first official tournament for the Polish Team. After less than 12 months since the first training, our players competed against far more experienced teams and ended up taking the 11th place after beating Japan in their final match. Another tournament the Polish Team participated in was the Victory Cup in Moscow (May 2013). The best teams from Asia and Europe took part in this competition. As for the prezentacji Polski. Po niecalych dwunastu miesicach od pierwszego treningu nasza reprezentacja stanla naprzeciw duo bardziej dowiadczonych druyn i ostatecznie zajla 11 miejsce, pokonujc w decydujcym meczu reprezentacj Japonii. Kolejnym turniejem i sprawdzianem reprezentacji Polski byl ,,Victory Cup", który odbywal si w Moskwie w maju 2013 roku. W turnieju udzial wzily najlepsze druyny z Azji i Europy. W sierpniu 2013 roku w Irlandzkim miecie Limerick odbyl si ,,Paddy Powers Cup". Polacy w drodze do finalu pokonali reprezentacj Belgi, Holandii i Irlandii, po czym ulegli reprezentacji Anglii, zdobywajc drugie miejsce. We wrzeniu 2013 roku w Warszawie odbyla si druga edycja Amp Futbol Cup. Kolejny raz w turnieju zwyciyla reprezentacja z wysp Brytyjskich. Ostatnim elementem przygotowa przed Mistrzostwami byla trzecia edycja ,,Amp Futbol Cup" w Warszawie, gdzie nasza druyna zajla trzecie miejsce za reprezentacjami Turcji i Anglii. Mistrzostwa wiata okazaly si wielkim sukcesem naszej druyn. Czwarte miejsce bylo najwiksz sensacj calych mistrzostw. Jak dotd jest to najwikszy sukces Polaków. W czerwcu 2015 roku odbyla si pierwsza edycja drugiego midzynarodowego turnieju w Polsce ,,Podhale Cup". Do Nowego Targu przyjechaly z zagranicy druyny z Holandii, Ukrainy oraz Irlandii. Nasza reprezentacja wygrala ten turniej. W tym samym czasie Kadra B naszego kraju rozgrywala mecz pokazowy z druyn z Hiszpanii w Berlinie podczas finalu UEFA Barcelona Juventus. Czwarta edycja ,,Amp Futbol Cup" we wrzeniu 2015 roku przycignla do Polski pi zagranicznych druyn: Francja, Hiszpania, Turcja, Wlochy oraz Irlandia. Po czterech latach ,,Amp Futbol Cup" nasza kadra zdobyla srebrny medal, ulegajc po zacitym pojedynku reprezentacji Turcji [22]. W listopadzie 2013 roku powstal pierwszy klub, którzy utworzyli zawodnicy reprezentacji naszego kraju w miejscowoci Góra obok Plocka. Zaraz po powstaniu klubu GKS Góra zaczly powsta kolejne druyny: Lampart Warszawa, Husaria Kraków oraz Gryf Szczecin. Druyny te wystartowaly w pierwszej historycznej Amp Futbol Ekstraklasie 2015 o tytul Mistrza Polski w Ampfutbolu. Klub z Krakowa zdobyl tytul mistrzowski wygrywajc 11 z 12 meczy w calej lidze, ulegajc jedynie Gryfowi Szczecin w ostatnim meczu calego sezonu. Wicemistrzem Polski zostal Gryf Polish team, the tournament could not be regarded as successful since they finished last without scoring a single point. In August 2013, the Paddy Powers Cup was held in Limerick, Ireland. On their way to the final match, the Polish team beat national teams of Belgium, Holland and Ireland, whereupon they were defeated by the English national team, thus winning the 2nd place. In September 2013, the second Amp Futbol Cup was organised in Warsaw. Again, the tournament was won by the English team. The Polish team came third even though they scored the same number of points as the second team (Ukraine), who had a better aggregate score. At the end of March 2013, the Polish team began preparations for the World Cup final in Mexico (December 2014). The third Warsaw Amp Futbol Cup was treated as the final preparation phase. Our team came third after the national teams of Turkey and England. The World Cup was a huge success for our team. The 4th place was the greatest surprise of the whole championships. So far, it has been the biggest success of the Polish team. In June 2015, the second international Podhale Cup tournament was held in Poland. Teams from Holland, Ukraine and Ireland arrived in Nowy Targ. Our national team won this competition. At the same time, the Polish National Team B played an exhibition match against Spain during the UEFA Champions League final (Barcelona vs. Juventus) in Berlin. The fourth Amp Futbol Cup tournament (September 2015) attracted five foreign teams from France, Spain, Turkey, Italy and Ireland. Our national team won a silver medal after being defeated by Turkey in a fierce final match [22]. In November 2013, the first Polish club was founded in Góra near Plock. The club was set up by national team players. After that, other teams were established: Lampart Warsaw, Husaria Cracow and Gryf Szczecin. These teams competed in the first historic 2015 Polish Amputee Football League to win the Polish Champion trophy. The team from Cracow became the champion after winning 11 out of 12 league matches (they only lost the last match of the season against Gryf Szczecin). Gryf Szczecin became the vice-champion, while GKS Góra won the 3rd place. In October 2016, the second season of the Polish Amputee Football League that included five teams was closed. Kuloodporni Bielsko-Biala was a new team that competed in the league. The structure of the Polish Amputee Football League is based on 5 tournaments during which all the teams play with one another. The team that obtains the highest number of points during all tournaments becomes the Polish Champion [22]. Currently, approx. 60-65 individuals practise this sport in Poland. Each Szczecin, a trzecie miejsce zajl GKS Góra. W padzierniku 2016 zakoczyl si drugi sezon Amp Futbol Ekstraklasy, w którym wystartowalo pi zespolów. Zawodnicy w trakcie meczu mog korzysta jedynie z kul [5], które powinny by wykonane z metalu, przy czym wszystkie elementy niebezpieczne powinny by oklejone tam. Zawodnicy uprawiajcy ampfutbol klasyfikowani s w dwóch grupach: 1) zawodnicy z pola gry w grupie po jednostronnej amputacji koczyny dolnej (A2 i A4) lub new potential player may contact a respective club or federation via website [20,21,22]. Amputee football rules. As a variation of football, amputee football is based on general FIFA rules; however, due to players' limitations and different physical capabilities, some regulations had to be adjusted to individuals with locomotor disabilities. The main difference concerns pitch sizes. In amputee football, the pitch is 60 m long and 40 m wide. The penalty area measures 8 x 10 metres, while penalty kick is performed from outside the penalty area, 9 metres from the goal. The dimensions of the goals are 5 x 2 metres [21]. There are two teams of seven players (including goalkeepers) each. Outfield players are after unilateral lower limb amputations, whereas goalkeepers are after unilateral upper limb amputations [6]. During a match, players are allowed to use metal crutches only [5]. All dangerous crutch parts ought to be covered with tape. Each match consists of two 25-minute halves, with a 10-minute rest period in between. When the winner is not produced by the end of the match, extra time comprising two 10-minute periods is played. If there is no winner after extra time, a penalty shootout takes place. Throw-ins are replaced by free kicks taken at the point where the ball crosses the touch line. The offside rule does not apply in amputee football [5]. Moreover, the slide tackle is not permitted. During a match, any intentional contact of the crutch with the ball is treated as a violation similar to touching the ball with the hand. The goalkeeper is not allowed to use the stump of the amputated limb to control the ball (this violation will also result in a penalty kick). The same rule applies to outfield players. Another very important rule is that the goalkeeper cannot leave the penalty area [21]. Classification of amputee football players. Amputee football players are classified into two groups: 1) outfield players, who had a unilateral lower limb amputation (A2 and A4) or foot amputation, and 2) goalkeepers, who had a unilateral upper limb amputation (A6 and A8) or hand amputation [6]. Amputee football can also be played by individuals from the `Les Autres' group, i.e. those with other locomotor disabilities (in this case with underdeveloped limbs) [7]. Amputee football in research Sport for people with disabilities has interested scientists for a long time. Amputee football as a `new' form of football for individuals after amputa- amputacji stopy oraz 2) bramkarze po jednostronnej amputacji koczyny górnej (A6 i A8) lub amputacji dloni [6]. W odniesieniu do 11 wyselekcjonowanych artykulów dokonano podzialu na trzy grupy tematyczne: 1) aspekty psychologiczne i spoleczne (cztery prace), 2) charakterystyka antropomotoryczna i ywieniowa (trzy prace), 3) wytrzymalo, wydolno i zdolnoci szybkociowe (cztery prace). Aspekty psychologiczne i spoleczne. Amputacja wplywa na gwaltown zmian stylu ycia i wlanie wtedy szczególnie istotne jest podjcie takiej aktywnoci, która moglaby przyspieszy proces rehabilitacji. Jedn z takich moliwoci stanowi aktywno sportowa. Acet [12] przeprowadzil badania porównujce poziom agresywnoci i asertywnoci wród zawodników ampfutbolu i pilkarzy z zaburzeniami sluchu. W efekcie bada stwier- tions has also become the subject of scientific research. However, there are very few studies regarding both players and the game itself (Table 1). The eleven articles selected for the review were divided into three categories: 1) psychological and social aspects (four papers), 2) anthropomotorics and nutrition (three papers), and 3) endurance, physical capacity and speed abilities (four papers). Psychological and social aspects. Amputation results in a sudden change of lifestyle and it is then that taking up activities that would accelerate the process of rehabilitation is absolutely essential. One of them is physical activity. In his research, Yanci [8] examined 220 subjects after unilateral amputations, half of whom practised amputee football. He revealed a positive impact of sport on the quality of life of individuals after amputations. He also noted that to enable persons with disabilities to be more independent, it is necessary to use sport in rehabilitation. Similar conclusions were drawn by Monteiro [9], who compared social activity of amputee football players (n=69) and amputees who did not do any sport (n=69). He pointed to greater work and everyday activity efficiency among trained individuals. Based on the research results, he also revealed that football considerably improved functional capability and social activity of players after amputations, which led to an improvement in overall life quality. These findings seem to make us aware of positive effects of sport and its role in the life of persons with amputation. Sports competition often provokes athletes' aggression, which is an indispensable part of many sports disciplines [11]. Acet [12] compared the levels of aggression and assertiveness between amputee and hearing-impaired football players. He found that hearing-impaired footballers demonstrated higher levels of aggression and assertiveness. He linked it to the problems that people with this type of disability encountered, i.e. difficulties in communicating. Anthropomotorics and nutrition. Limb amputation or underdevelopment leads to the biomechanical system disorders and affects the functioning of the other limb. To be able to use crutches, football players with amputation need to have well-developed upper limb muscles as they are partly responsible for mobility [13]. Gomes published two articles concerning nutrition of football players with amputation [13,14]. Both studies sought to assess their nutritional profile and demonstrate their nutritional characterisation. In the first study [13], body mass and height as well as skinfolds were measured and biochemical analysis of blood was performed in four football dzil, i wyszy poziom agresywnoci i asertywnoci prezentuj zawodnicy z zaburzeniami sluchu, co wizal z problemami, na które napotykaj osoby z tym rodzajem niepelnosprawnoci, tj. trudnociami w porozumiewaniu si. Zawodnicy ampfutbolu, by móc porusza si na kulach, musz mie dobrze rozwinite minie koczyny górnej, gdy to one pelni czciowo funkcj lokomocyjn [13]. W pierwszych badaniach [13] dokonano pomiarów: masy i wysokoci ciala, wielkoci faldu skórnego oraz analizy biochemicznej krwi u czterech zawodników ampfutbolu. Wyniki bada wskazaly na potrzeb skorygowania niewlaciwych nawyków ywieniowych zawodników w okresie przed zawodami w celu poprawy wyników sportowych. Innymi badaniami [14] autor objl 15 zawodników brazylijskiej druyny ampfutbolowej. Wytrzymalo, wydolno i zdolnoci szybkociowe. The results indicated the need to correct players' improper nutritional habits in the pre-competition period to improve their performance. The other study [14] included 15 Brazilian football players with amputation. The aim of this investigation was to determine nutritional profile in the period before the World Championships with regard to playing positions. Based on the research results, it was stated that midfielders were heavier than other players, which may be caused by the fact that they manifested higher levels of subcutaneous tissue. Furthermore, the analysis revealed significant correlations of technical skills with such anthropometric features as body mass and height as well as players' age. Nutritional data showed that in the group of the examined players carbohydrate intake was too low, while fat and protein intake was too high. Therefore, the author pointed to the need to individualise players' nutritional habits. Percentage differences in body fat content were also highlighted by Simim [6], who conducted research regarding anthropomotoric profile and physical characteristics of football players with amputation. He revealed significant percentage differences in fat content between midfielders and defenders. Playing positions did not influence physical test results, while physical fitness indices were not differentiated with regard to a player's role. Football players with amputation often had nothing to do with professional sport, which seems to explain their improper nutritional habits and point to the need to correct and approach their nutritional plans individually. Endurance, physical capacity and speed abilities. In amputee football, playing positions are the same as in traditional football. In his study, Özkan [15] proved that football players with amputation exhibited increased maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) and high parameters of anaerobic performance obtained during 10 m, 20 m and 30 m sprints. In another study, the same author [16] examined correlations between body composition, anaerobic performance and sprint ability of football players with amputation. Fifteen competitors took part in the study. A significant correlation of body composition and somatotype with anaerobic performance and sprint ability was found. Mine [17] assessed correlations between quickness and speed in the group of 10 football players with amputation. The results revealed significant correlations between the analysed variables. In turn, Kayihan [18] compared aerobic capacity of football players with amputation in two different tests: the Cooper test and the 1-mile run test according to heart rate (HR) responses. Eighteen players participated in the study. The Po- taki sam, jak w tradycyjnej pilce nonej. The authors did not find any significant correlations between hand grip strength and sprint times. Results of the analysis of the running velocity curve consisting of a 15 metre-long acceleration phase and a significant velocity increase over a distance of 20-25 m seem to be interesting. The authors noted the differences between velocity curves of able-bodied competitors and football players with amputation. Summary Tematyka dotyczca ampfutbolu zaczyna budzi dopiero zainteresowanie naukowców. Najbardziej oryginaln prac badawcz wydaje si praca analizujca zwizek chwytu rki i zdolnoci szybkociowych oraz profilu sprintu zawodników ampfutbolu [19], a najwiksze wartoci utylitarne mona przypisa pracy porównujcej efektywno stosowania The subject of amputee football has attracted scientists' interest only recently. The research carried out so far has made it possible to create an anthropomotoric profile of the player and to determine the effects of amputee football on players' everyday functioning in society. It has also provided information related to selected psychological and motor parameters in amputee football training. Studies on amputee football published to date are interesting; however, the findings cannot be generalised to the population of competitors who practise this sport primarily for two reasons: 1) too small sample size (in the majority of works the groups consisted of several to a dozen or so players) and 2) limited international representation (most studies were conducted in Turkey). The study analysing the correlation of hand grip and speed abilities as well as the profile of sprint in football players with amputation seems to be the most original scientific work [19], while the study comparing the effectiveness of the Cooper test and the 1-mile run test used to assess aerobic capacity of football players with amputation is of the highest utilitarian value [18]. Questionnaires and tests employed in previous studies on football players with amputation were verified and reliable tools. It would be advisable to implement the same tools in future research to facilitate collected data comparison. So far, there have been no investigations on injury incidence in amputee football or training effectiveness analysed with the use of physiological parameters. Such studies seem to be significant as the knowledge coaches might be provided with (e.g. injury types and causes) could help them reduce the risk of injury in players. In turn, physiological studies make it possible to assess training effectiveness in amputee football (e.g. the influence of training on physical capacity and sprint abilities) in an objective manner. The subject of amputee football seems to be interesting not only for researchers but also for coaches who, thanks to scientific research results, will be able to develop more effective training plans for their players. testów (Coopera, biegu na jedn mil) do oceny wysilku aerobowego zawodników ampfutbolu [18]. Kwestionariusze i testy stosowne w dotychczasowych badaniach zawodników ampfutbolu nale do narzdzi zweryfikowanych i rzetelnych. Wskazane byloby stosowanie tych samych narzdzi w przyszlych badaniach w celu ulatwienia porównywalnoci uzyskanych wyników. Abstract

Introduction: Sport for people with disabilities has interested scientists for a long time. Nowo powstal druyn, która wzila udzial w lidze s Kuloodporni Bielsko-Biala. Struktura rozgrywania Amp Futbolowej Ekstraklasy opiera si na 5 turniejach, podczas których wszystkie kluby rozgrywaj mecze pomidzy sob. Tytul Mistrza Polski uzyskuje zespól, który zdobdzie najwiksz liczb punktów podczas wszystkich turniejów [22]. Obecnie dyscyplin t uprawia w Polsce okolo 6065 osób. Wyniki wykazaly istotn korelacj kompozycji ciala i somatotypu z moliwociami beztlenowymi oraz sprintem. Mine [17] ocenial relacje pomidzy szybkoci a prdkoci dzialania w grupie 10 zawodników trenujcych ampfutbol. W badaniach wzilo udzial 18 zawodników, a do pomiaru HR uyto urzdzenia polarTeam3Pro. W innych badaniach [19] oceniano potencjaln zaleno pomidzy sil chwytu rki a zdolnociami szybkociowymi zawodników ampfutbolu. W badaniach uczestniczylo 13 zawodników reprezentacji Polski. Autorzy zauwayli rónice pomidzy krzywymi prdkoci zawodników pelnosprawnych i zawodników ampfutbolu. Podsumowanie sprint test as well as a hand grip strength test (with a dynamometer).
