This volume brings to light hitherto unpublished data, making an important contribution to our knowledge about the ancient Saharan African people known as the Garamantes. The Garamantes are believed to have emerged out of localised late-pastoral traditions, movements of people from the Nile Valley, sub-Saharan Africa and the Mediterranean from the beginning of the first millennium BC, peaking in the Greco-Roman period.
