Th is book is the culmination of many years work on ancient synagogues which started as a multidisciplinary research project at Lund University (Sweden) in 1997. Th e participants of this project have published a number of books and articles on diff erent aspects of the ancient synagogue, including its origin, nature, architecture, hermeneutics, and language, as well as on the process of separation between Jews and Christians. Th e book consists of fi ve chapters.
