Redating TR and BTR. The Three Stages at Stake?

Redating TR and BTR. The Three Stages at Stake?
Abstract
As the third and final type of text of the Old Testament Peshitta (TR, the later standard text) already appears with an eighth-century author (Theodore bar Koni) and in an eighth-century manuscript (8j1), it did not originate in the ninth, but already in the eighth century. The whole scheme of three consecutive stages in the development of the mainstream of the transmission of the Peshitta text could be moved one century backwards without running the risk of being unsettled. As this scheme is concerned first and foremost with types of text, there is no need to suggest direct (linear) dependence between all manuscripts involved.
http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Aramaic Studies Brill
