Abstract
The Importing of Sinopean Amphorae into Thracian TerritoryThis article is based on collections ‐ both published and unpublished ‐ of amphora stamps from Sinope stemming from settlements in the West Pontic region and from centres of consumption within Thrace. The conclusions presented bear upon the chronology of imports from Sinope, their development and their intensity. A commentary is provided on the data relating to the fluctuating presence of merchandise from Sinope transported in amphorae to territories in the South and North of the Haemus Mons and these are viewed in the context of the commercial activity of the settlements of the West Pontic region.
