Editorial From this issue I begin to serve as Editor of Greek and Roman Musical Studies. I am very glad and honoured to succeed Andrew Barker, the scholar who, more than any other, has formed and continues to form younger generations of researchers devoted to the study of ancient Greek and Roman music. This journal was born and developed under his patient and competent guidance, becoming an important point of reference for any member of the international community with an interest in the topic. I hope I will be up to the task that has been assigned to me.This second issue of 2017 covers a wide range of topics. The two papers that open and close the volume range from Archaic poetry (with Amy Lather’s paper investigating the vocabulary of sound in Hesiodic and Homeric verses) to the history of philology applied to ancient musicological texts (with Laurent Calvié’s contribution on the role of Henri Weil in preparing the Weil-Reinach edition of the De musica attributed to Plutarch).
