The very first volume published in 1993, which was focused on the independence process of Namibia, devoted quite a bit of- atten tion to these issues by means of contributions relating to the international law of the sea and the newly-adopted Treaty Establishing the African Economic Community. This interest for economic and development issues has only con - tinued to grow since then, as no less than six (6) special themes have been devoted to them, 1 in addition to the many articles published in the general part of the Yearbook.
