NATIONAL CENTER FOR COMPUTER CRIME DATA The National Center for Computer Crime Data is a research institute which studies and reports on means to facilitate the prevention, detection, investigation, and prosecution of computer crime. (Computer crime is defined broadly by the Center, and includes all crimes perpetrated through the use of computers and all crimes where damage is done to computers or their components. ) There is a growing accounting, moral, of these questions security director, to these questions for Computer Crime The National Center need for rapid and informed response to the legal, security, and technological questions posed by computer crime. Many are beyond the expertise of the local police officer, auditor, systems manager, prosecutor, or court. The answers are being collected and disseminated by the National Center Data. for Computer Crime Data consists of a variety of resources: Legal Work Products -- Search warrants, memoranda of points and authorities, criminal and civil complaints, trial briefs, legal periodical articles and texts. Legislation relevant to the definition crime and related crimes are collected Reporter. of and sanctions against computer in the Center's Computer Crime Law Case Summaries indicating the types of crime known to have been committed and the modus operandi of these crimes are found in the Center's Computer Crime Chronicles series. Scholarly Materials dealing with general themes relating to computer crime, computer security, and computer morality including statistical studies of the incidence and costs of computer crime are discussed in the Center' s annual statistical report, Computer Crime, Computer Security: Computer Ethics. Publications Program In addition to the publications listed here, the Center has an active program of publication, including a quarterly newsletter entitled "Conscience in Computing".
