As is typical for our journal, some of the articles make a more creative presentation than is seen in many highly regarded international journals, which often have a more rigid format. Our journal makes room for more untraditional articles, typical for psychology in the Nordic coun- tries, but nonetheless often based on profound systematic empirical research. This issue presents research from Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland. Aleman, from Sweden, starts by discussing problems in psychodynamic personal ity assessment of drug abusers diagnosed with personality disorders. The problems addressed are: drugs affect personality, the duration of detoxification prior to interviews and tests is insufficient, drug abusers suffer from memory defi- ciency and incapacity for psychological reflections, and – very importantly – the conditions drug abusers must accept in order to receive clinical care, activate manipulative behaviour and latent defense mechanisms during interviews. This discussion, which presents very useful insights for clinical work, is fol- lowed by another article concerning assessment and diagnostic work.
