Abstract The names of three senior editors of the A.M.A. Journal of Diseases of Children no longer appear on our masthead. The Board of Trustees of the American Medical Association has brought to bear a policy of periodically renewing the editorships of their specialty journals. While this process of perpetual rejuvenation by seeking new "genetic material" for the Journal is a well known and successful biologic phenomenon, it works in this case at a cost of three of the most experienced and loyal editors we possessed. Dr. Francis Scott Smyth of San Francisco joined the Editorial Board in 1940 and Dr. Ashley Weech of Cincinnati and Dr. James L. Wilson of Ann Arbor in 1943.
