THE IMPACT THAT E-GOVERNMENT CAN HAVE ON REDUCING CORRUPTION AND ENHANCING TRANSPARENCY

THE IMPACT THAT E-GOVERNMENT CAN HAVE ON REDUCING CORRUPTION AND ENHANCING TRANSPARENCY The mainstay of the paper is formed by an analysis of the impact of ICT governed programs and initiatives to curb corruption, the control of corruption through e-governance, the potential of e-governance to cut corruption and improve governance, and factors that cause corruption and the potential of e-government to mitigate corruption. In this paper I am particularly interested in exploring the potential impacts of ICT on corruption, ICT as a useful and practical policy tool for reducing corruption, the concept of public sector corruption, and TIB’s social movement against corruption.
