We are specifically interested in how previous research investigated the political nature of consumer choices in tourism, the formation of a brand in tourism family businesses, the development of a tourism destination brand, and the increased interest in heritage/cultural tourism. This paper begins to fill this gap by exploring sustainable developmentoriented forms of tourism, the dynamics of tourism development, and the complex relations between volunteer work, tourism and development.
