In the present paper, I focus on the overall level of import penetration of the Brazilian market for manufactured goods, the impact of China on the growth and structure of the Brazilian economy, and the composition of Brazil’s exports to China. The purpose of this article is to gain a deeper understanding of the convergence of Brazil’s gradual economic stabilization, China’s quest for new markets and commodities supply sources overseas, and the liberalization of Brazil’s economy.
